Portuguese Cultural Centre in Bangkok
The Portuguese Cultural Centre in Bangkok
Opened in 1993, the Portuguese Cultural Centre has always been located at the Portuguese Embassy in Bangkok. Initially, it was housed in two separate rooms outside the chancellery building, but due to its refurbishment in 2004 it has since been operating with a classroom/library/media center on the ground-floor of the chancellery.
The land on which the Portuguese Embassy in Bangkok is located (the oldest diplomatic residence in Thailand) was offered to Portugal by His Majesty King Rama II in 1820 for the creation of a Portuguese settlement and a home for the first consul, Carlos Manuel da Silveira.
In order to cater for Portuguese language activities, CCP/Camões, I.P. is dedicated to planning and organising events in different cultural areas.
Activities
Portuguese Language and Culture Courses
These course are designed for people looking to gain a basic understanding of the Portuguese Language.
Library - Open to the general public and students interested in the Portuguese language and culture.
