A symposium entitled ‘Portuguese in the Future – The future of the Portuguese language in Europe’ will take place in Lancaster on the 8th of April 2017, organised by PARSUK (Portuguese Association for Researchers and Students) and in partnership with Lancaster University.

With more than 2.3 million Portuguese people currently living abroad, the event will focus on the future of the Portuguese language in Europe, with particular emphasis on the main destination countries for Portuguese emigrants, namely the United Kingdom and France.

Among the guest speakers are the Secretary of State for Education, João Costa, the Head of the Portuguese Language Teaching Department in France, Adelaide Cristovão, and the Head of Portuguese Language Teaching Department and Director of the bilingual Anglo Portuguese School of London, Regina Duarte.
