Online Portuguese Language and Culture Summer Course

A consortium, comprising 5 Portuguese higher education institutions (Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra, Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, Universidade do Minho, Universidade de Aveiro) and Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua I.P., will hold for the first time a distance learning Summer Course in Portuguese Language and Culture next July. The course is aimed at those candidates whose native language is not Portuguese. This course will be held in cooperation and in an innovative manner.

UNESCO ratifies May 5th as World Portuguese Language Day

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) approved the celebration of the World Day of Portuguese Language on May 5th. The decision was ratified at the UNESCO General Conference on the 25th of November, 2019.

Mexico: Signature of Cooperation Protocol between Camões, I.P. and the Bachirellato School of Universidad Latina de América

The signature of a cooperation protocol between Camões, I.P. and the Bachirellato School of Universidad Latina de América (UNLA) for the implementation of curricular Portuguese classes, took place on the 20th of August 2019, in Morelia, Mexico. The signature was held at UNLA in the presence of the Mayor of the City of Morelia, Raúl Morón, as representative of the Governor of the State of Michoacán.

Germany: Paula Rego's first solo exhibition

Paula Rego's first solo exhibition in Germany, Entre a Imaginação e a Memória, started on August 8th at the Gallery of Camões - Portuguese Cultural Centre in Berlin. The Portuguese President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, was present an the innauguration, as part of his official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.

Signature of Protocols in the Book and Translation Area

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, and the Minister of Culture, Graça Fonseca, presided, on the 31st of July 2019, at the Library of Palácio Nacional da Ajuda, the ceremony of signature of two protocols in the Book and Translation Area, that reinforce the Government's public policies for the internationalization of Portuguese and Portuguese-speaking authors.

Publishing Support Programme 2017: open applications

Camões, I.P. Publishing Support Programme supports the publication of works written by Portuguese language authors that are translated into other languages and which focus on themes related to Portuguese language and culture. Applications are open until 28th April, 2017.
